Who suffers from OCD?
It is estimated that approximately 2-4% of the population suffer from OCD.
OCD is suffered across ages, gender and race. OCD is experienced solely by those who have an underlying anxiety disorder.
Children often develop OCD when confronted for the first time with life experiences which cause them to consider their own mortality and the frailty of life. Without a clear understanding of 'danger' itself, OCD cannot be experienced.
From children to grandchildren, solicitors to school teachers, OCD is indiscriminate. Many sufferers are able to continue normal activities, however some may become dependent and isolated.
OCD develops mostly in those under the age of 40. It is vital that OCD is treated as soon as it develops; however, the long term prognosis for successful treatment is excellent when the correct method is used.
